Day at the Beach

Collin has not been to the beach since he was 15 months old. At that time, he had a cast on his broken leg so he was not able to enjoy the sand and waves like I would have liked for him to. Therefore, today, we joined one of his friends from school, Jacob, his mom and other friends at the beach. Collin LOVED to play in the sand. At first, he played with the trucks in the sand but then quickly joined Jacob, Simon and Katie burying Jacob in the sand. The kids thought it was so much fun that they ALL wanted to be buried in the sand. The mommies helped dig out a large hole for all of the kids to fit into and then started to bury the kids under the sand. They sat there for the longest time, other than Katie, before "breaking free" by wriggling a finger out, then an arm and then jumping out. Collin did not like his hands buried and kept them out the next several times that we buried them.

To "clean off", we all walked to the water to play in the waves.  Collin was not interested in doing this the first time we walked over but really wanted to get into the water the next time.  He really liked it when I held him up to jump over the waves but did not want to go out as far as the other mommies went.  I was OK with this anyway because salt water is not really my thing.  What we do for our kids, right?  We took a break for lunch and then later for a snack.  Most of the time, the kids played in the sand and had a blast.  We stayed for over 5 hours before cleaning up and heading back.

Our set up for the day on the dune side of the beach
