Catching Up

I can’t believe it’s been a little over a week, but I also can’t believe that it’s only been a week with everything that has gone on since I last posted.

Lacrosse - Collin still loves playing lacrosse and is doing well. He is even happy to practice outside of the team practice. He did stop carrying his stick around the house. Phew!  The team did win their last game and they are starting to play together really well. He has also developed friendships with boys he has not gotten to know before. He is so friendly that it’s not too hard to do.

After practice one time, we hung out at one of the player’s house to get to know them. We ended up staying for crawfish dinner which was amazing!  Collin even had 8 crawfish. I was impressed that he even tried them...and then wanted more.

7 on 7 Football - every Saturday morning for 2 1/2 hours, Collin is either practicing or playing in tournaments for touch football. He asked to play, is very attentive during practice and remembers every single one of the plays. He still not giving it everything he has when it’s time to play the game, but he still enjoying it.

Nerf Guns - He is obsessed with Nerf guns!  He immediately grabs one when he comes into the house. He even sleeps with several of them at a time. He likes to play outside with his friends pretending to have a war, find zombies, etc.

Cub Scouts - Collin attends the Scout meetings if these don’t conflict with sports. For the last one, they went door-to-door in the neighborhood looking for food donations for a local food bank. The boys had fun and made it a competition to see which Den could get more food. One house donated over 12 cans which helped Collin’s Den.

Wedding - one of our really good friend’s daughters recently got married. What was special about this wedding is that she asked Dad to officiate. He thought is was a joke at first but then realized she really needed his help. He found out how to be ordained online which was really quick. He then researched videos to write the wedding serimon. He even practiced on use a few times here is a priceless picture of him practicing with Collin as the groom and Burke as the Bride. They paired attention through the entire 15 minute practice and Collin even cried because some of the words made him so emotional.

Here are picitues of the actual wedding. Dad did SO good. Collin did great too for being one The only children there. He was actually even very entertaining for the couple we sat next to at our designated table.  We unfortunately had to leave before the cake was surd because the wedding was on a Sunday night so we had to get back home to get calling to bed and ready for school the next day.

Half Marathon - besides all of the above AND Being in the middle of tax busy season, I am also training for several half marathons and shorter distance races the spring. I already completed one about two weeks ago, have a 10K race tomorrow and have another half marathon next Sunday.

Thirty-One Gifts and other direct sales - I hosted two events at our house in the last two weeks. One was for a friend that is selling clean crafted wine 🍷 and the other was to showcase several neighbor friends that are consultants for direct sale businesses.  This Was also a way for me to advertise Thirty-One gifts that I started as a consultant about a year ago.  I am having fun with it for now and seeing how much traction I can get before I decide if this is something serious. It’s at least forcing me out of my comfort zone, helping me develop new friendships with neighbors and helping others with their businesses which I love to do.

Recovered injuries - both Collin and I have also been going to the doctor to help us heal from our recent injuries. Collins ankle is doing much better and that’s why he’s able to play sports now. I had really bad knee pain in my right knee and found out after several doctor appointments that I had underdeveloped quad muscles and a weak right hip. I was so worried about needing surgery or shots but the pain is gone now that I have regularly included exercises in my daily training.  Call him like that both of us have to have KT tape to help us heal.

.... besides call I’m going to school, me going to work, and dad volunteering at school and Dad working on his side business, this is what has kept us busy over the last 10 days or so. In between all of this, we still love hanging out with our neighbors at the end of the street watching the kids and the dogs play together.  We love our neighborhood and how it has persevered over the last seven months after the hurricane did so much damage to people emotionally and to homes physically.

Dirt Bikes 🏍

Collin and Dad have dirt bikes mainly to use at the treehouse. Collin was not sure about riding one at first probably because his teacher and our neighbor told him how dangerous it is.

He was hesitant at first to get on so I rode his in circles for a few minutes and then he decided to give it a try. He rode for about 5 minutes but at least he got on.

During Spring Break, the hisy went to a dirt bike track to take lessons for several days. By the end of the week, Collin was jumping over smalls mounds, riding fast and even standing up while riding. He had fun and is not afraid of the bike anymore. Ready for this summer in the mountains now.

Lacrosse is Fun!

Collin finally able to play lacrosse now. He can run full speed or move quickly but he can at least play foe about 20 minutes at a time. He surprised the coach with how well he caught the ball and defended the goal. Coach knows how fast Collin is and cannot wait to use him more on the field.

This is also the first sport that I can think of in a long time that he willingly practices between team practice and games. He asks to throw the ball when he gets home. I had to practice a bit too before I was decent enough to play with him.

We are looking forward to a fun lacrosse season.
