First Dip in the Pool

Collin has been asking to get in the pool for the last month.  I have told him he can but it was too cold for me to get in with him.

After practicing baseball, playing a soccer game and playing at the pool with some new friends, I finally let Collin see for himself if the pool water was too cold.  He was really excited to jump in because we just signed him up for swim team and he picked up his new bathing suit for swim team.  He is a tiny dude still so his suit is a size 24 (European size).  It's a really good looking Speedo jammers with mainly blue and then speckled red, light blue and white in a patch on the sides of both legs.

As soon as we got home, he ran out from his bedroom naked and his new bathing suit in his hands.  He could not get it on and needed help.  He then went outside and stood at the edge of the pool.  "Geronimo!!!!" and then he jumped in.  He quickly came back up and yelled out that the pool was cold.  "Can you put the hot tub on?  That will warm me up."  I thought it might relax him, too, so he might go to bed early tonight so I was fine with the idea.  He got in and asked me every minute how many minutes it had been because he knew that it took about 20 minutes for the hot tub to get hot.  OK, this was going to get annoying quick.  I sat on the lawn chairs next to the hot tub and relaxed and watch him play in the water.  Burke was going a little crazy because he had not seen anyone in the pool yet.  He was not sure what to do.  Collin thought it was fun when Burke wanted to lick his back because it was wet.

After warming up in the hot tub, he got back in the main pool and "swam" around.  He mainly dog paddled in the water and forgot a lot of what he learned from last summer.  At least he was not afraid of the water still.

Here he is jumping off the side of the hot tub.  I can tell how much he as grown in the last year because he does not have to stand on his tippy toes to be out of the water.
