Catching Up

Boy, I was on a roll there for a few weeks keeping the blog updated.  It's been challenging to do so the last few weeks because of my work schedule.  Here is what you missed....nothing much really which is a good thing:

  • I ran my 3rd half marathon of the year up and down the Vegas strip the weekend of Nov 14 and 15.  I did this with 3 other friends.  It sure was an experience we will never forget because of 1) the people watching, 2) it raining only during the run....it's Vegas!...when does it rain? and 3) 25 mph winds while we were running.  My back was the only thing sore the next day because of how I had to run into the wind on the way back to the finish line.  We had a hearty breakfast dinner after the run (it was close to 8:30pm) and then went back to our rooms to get up by 5am the next day to leave.  I would have said "come home" but I flew to Dallas for a 4 day work conference.  It was packed all day with meetings until almost 9pm every night.  What a week!
  • The family ran the annual Turkey Trot close to our neighborhood.  We love this one because it benefits local charities, we know most of the people running in it, it's REALLY close and there is not a huge crowd.  Collin ran up front with his buddy while Dad and I walked fast with our friends.  We heard later than Collin was the first kid to cross the finish line.  That boy is fast!
  • Collin lost tooth #8 over the Thanksgiving holiday.  He was dancing around with a friend.  They bumped heads, Collin feel back and his knee hit his mouth.  The tooth was already a little loose anyway.  He said it did not hurt and then washed the tooth to get it ready to put under his pillow.  The Tooth Fairy brought him her standard $2 bill.
  • We had a great time at the Ranch celebrating Thanksgiving.  The cousins were there so Collin had a great time with them.  They explored the property, road scooters, shoot BB guns, threw the football and played around the yard.  They generally got along really well which was nice to see.
  • The family put up Christmas decorations inside and outside the house Thanksgiving weekend.  It looks fabulous!  I love this time of year.
  • Collin must be ready for Christmas break because weekly, the teacher is commenting how he is easily distracted and not focused on his assignments or that he talks while she is talking.  Either he has done this all year and she is just now making a point to write these notes, or it's happening now more regularly.  Because of this, we have notice a few of his grades have fallen from the last 9 week report...especially math which was his better subject.
