Day 6 = Winner if you said El Paso Still

Thinking we would only be in El Paso until around 5pm, we called and rearrange our schedule for the next two days.  I was happy that we were at least going to see the Northwest part of Arizona that I have not seen before heading to Colorado.  Plus, we were driving through parts of New Mexico I have not seen before either even though most of that was going to be at night.  We had to plan to be back at the hotel and checked out by 2:30pm (they were nice enough to give us a late check out so Dad could rest before the drive) and then some activity until we picked up the RV.

This morning, we went to the El Paso zoo.  The zoo looks as though it was carved right out of the city, an expansive green space that is home to exotic animal species from around the world.  Also, is bigger than you think when you first walk in because it's divided into three different sections.  We were there for almost two hours before it was time to leave and get some lunch.
Love the mountains in the background of the giraffee exhibit

Collin knows we have to see the Meerkats whenever we are at the zoo.  He found the exhibit for me.

These ladies were sleeping in the shade....

.....look how close we were able to get to them.

Good example of what most of the exhibits looked like.  Very natural with lots of trees and room.

Stopped at the tree house playground twice for Colling to play

So majestic

Happy boy at the zoo

During lunch, we found out that were are here for ANOTHER night.  Ugh!  I am trying so hard to be positive about all of this and happy for both Chris and Collin.  I could not help but tear up a little knowing that seeing any of Arizona was not out other than possibly the Four Corners.  Good thing we planned to be gone 16 days or we would be headed back home tomorrow IF we picked up the RV.

Exhausted from the emotions of the day and walking around the zoo, we came back to our room to rest...and ended up taking a two hour nap.  Dad thought it would be fun to see the El Paso Chihuahua's baseball team play tonight but the tickets were already sold out.  Looks like we will be hanging by the pool and have a low-key evening instead.
