Summit of Angel Fire Ski Mountain

Yesterday morning, we all took the chairlift up to the summit of the Angel Fire ski mountain. Because everyone had different hiking abilities, we took it easy and walked a long and wide hiking path around the summit. At every possible stop, the boys wanted to hike up the large lava rocks and play king of the mountain. They were very interested in learning what frisbee golf was because along with route was the frisbee golf course. Collin turned it into a game having a guess how many feet each frisbee golf hole was.

We stopped at one area to take pictures that had a great view of the opposite mountain range, Wheeler Mountain, and the town below. There was also a picnic table for us to sit and rest. I chose to sit on one of the logs near the edge of the mountain to take in the view. I noticed, based on the elevation app I have, that we were about 10,800 feet. Wow!  The boys were commenting held her ears were popping. Well, that explains it!

We walked around for another 30 minutes before stopping to have lunch at the summit restaurant. The barbecue sandwiches and hotdogs were really good. This also meant that I was really glad I packed a snack because there is nothing for me to eat there.

We took the chairlift down which was way different then going up.  Immediately we started going straight down in the wind was strong. If you were afraid of heights, you would not have liked the ride down!  I think we were all happy to be safely back at the bottom of the chair lift. Ha!
