That morning, we packed a few things for the day including toys for both Collin and Burke. Later we realized that we forgot Burke's food. He did not seem to miss it though. Collin and Burke were cozy in the far back seat of Daddy's Tahoe. At first, Collin was bothered because Burke would not settle down and lay by him. Eventually, Burke laid his head on Collin's lap which Collin really liked. He also really liked his breakfast of a bag donut holes and one glazed and one chocolate covered donut. That's his usual order when we have donuts. Mommy does not eat donuts so we stopped somewhere else for me and then got on the road for the less than 2 hour trip to Memaw's. For the first 20 minutes, Burke looked out the window and then laid down for the rest of the trip. I was shocked that Collin did not ask for the iPad to watch movies. He looked through is Highlights magazines and played the Hidden Puzzle and What's Wrong with This Picture games.
Doesn't that chocolate donut look good? |
Here is what Collin and Burke looked like most of the trip |
Burke did stay outside most of the time even though it was less than 50 degrees. After a late lunch, Collin, Memaw and I took Burke for a walk which we all really enjoyed. At this point, Little Bit, the resident Chihuahua introduced himself to Burke by barking constantly and letting Burke know that this was home. Burke showed his teeth and Little Bit left him alone....only to later start humping Burke from the back. Collin later reported that Little Bit was dancing behind Burke and thought this was funny. We all laughed because if Collin only knew what Little Bit was doing. I was NOT going to explain that one to him.
We did eventually have to leave. Burke was not as anxious when he was in the car on the way home and settled down quickly next to his pal, Collin. We all had an enjoyable time that we decided we need to make the trip at least once a month.
Here is Collin on the way home using Burke's back to hold the iPad while he was watching movies.
