This morning, I raced in my 7th and last race of the season. This was a duathlon which consisted of a 2 mi run, 11 mi bike and then 2 mi run. Because of the long hours at work, I have not been able to train like I wanted to but at least kept it up as much as I could. Well, maybe that WAS the way to train because I got 1st in my age group. Don't I look happy?
Collin stayed home with Mimi because this was a race that Daddy's bike shop organized so Daddy would not have been able to watch Collin and talk on the mic like he did all morning.
We got home to clean up and then headed to a farm to meet some friends. The farm has lots of kids activities in addition to a corn maze, pumpkin patch and Christmas tree farm (we did not do these because the kids were wore out by then). For over 3 hours, the kids had fun on the different activities the farm had to offer. The first one was Hay Mountain where they swung from a rope. At first, Collin did not want to do it, then did but fell as soon as he grabbed the rope and swung off. Daddy helped him understand how to do it and then he did...and loved it.
Next, we went to the Farmer Flinger where the road around on a big ball tied to a rope. Collin laughed so hard as he went around and around....but then wanted off when it got going too fast.
Kevin and Collin had fun on the roller slide. They got going really fast with the help of Daddy pushing them from the back.
Collin loved playing "King of the Corn Mountain". He had trouble climbing to the top of the hay stack but had no problem jumping off. Here he is demonstrating how to sit and slide off the hay. I bet he got some hay in his shorts after that one. :)
The kids had a blast, and lasted MUCH longer than I thought on the Jumping Pillows. The boys, Collin, Alex and Kevin, had fun jumping near each other which made one of them fall down. Then, they would run from one pillow to the next. Even Daddy joined in and then had to sit before the boys were finished. It was hot out and a good workout for an adult too.
The kids had the best time on the pedal karts. Collin's legs were a little short for then pedals so it took him a little longer to get started. Once he did, he did not stop. He quickly figured out how to get in the inside lane on the turn so he could get ahead of the kart in front of him. If he locked wheels, he figured out how to push off with his feet and get going again. He was the last one to get off the karts.....because he just did not want to stop!
Here are the friends from school before we started the day at the farm. Don't Collin, Alex and Ellie look like they are best of buds? I hope so since they do spend 5 days a week together at school. :)
Because Daddy and I had been up since 4am this morning, we were tired and wanted to go home to take a nap. Collin was, of course, not ready to leave. However, when we got home, it took him less than 15 minutes to fall asleep for a 2 hour nap. Great way to end a wonderful weekend.
